Position Literacy Tutor - 1:1 Reading Support Program
Impact Statement Frontier College relies on volunteers for continued success in everything we do. By sharing your time with a student, you can build a meaningful relationship, make a tangible difference in their learning journey, and develop new skills.
Description The program is currently facilitated at 3 local elementary schools. The aim is to improve the reading, comprehension, numeracy, and writing skills of children between the ages of 6-13 years with diverse backgrounds and needs. Tutors provide support based on our philosophy of Student Centered Learning; meaning that students are active in how, and what, they want to learn.
One of the most frequently asked questions is: Do I need teaching experience to become a volunteer tutor? The answer is, simply, no. Our volunteers come from many different backgrounds and experiences. Training, resources, and support are provided by staff.
